- 180 days on the permitThe permit is held at least 180 days, with no pending suspension or revocation.

- Driver education certificateFinish a state-certified driver education course and bring its completion certificate.
- Behind-the-wheel certificateFinish at least 6 hours with an instructor and bring the behind-the-wheel completion certificate.
- Notarized 40 + 10 hour statementA parent or guardian signs it before a notary and gives it to the driver education instructor before the behind-the-wheel certificate.
When they can drive
- 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.Only a licensed parent or guardian may ride along.
